​Smart Sparrow was an Australian education technology start-up with a goal to improve the learning experience for high school and university students. Acquired by Pearson in 2019.

COSMOS Media published the leading Australian science magazine, COSMOS.

• Managed one staff writer, mentored junior staff, operationalized the internship program

• Regularly wrote new stories and features, including 2 cover stories

• Managed the news site redesign. Site traffic grew by 50% in nine months, growing
  to 1.2 million visitors per month

• Commissioned content and managed relationships with international networks of writers, photographers and illustrators 

• Developed customised media and communication strategies for clients

• Founding editor of a magazine in Australia covering careers in science, which eventually became a separate publishing company

CERN is the European Organization for Nuclear Research. I led a global team of four to produce a weekly publication covering big data news and events across Europe, North America and Asia.

• Managed a staff writer in Geneva and two regional editors, in the US and Taiwan

• Editor of weekly online magazine, with articles, videos, blogs and event coverage

• Created and implemented online marketing strategy

• Part of the CERN communication team during the lead up and preparation for the  announcement of the discovery of the Higgs Boson

• Successful in obtaining additional funding from the European Commission in Nov 2011
